Fundamentals of Woodworking is our best selling class.  We sometimes get requests to teach this great introduction to the craft in a women-only setting. This intensive six-day (~30 hours total) deep dive provides the beginning woodworker with a solid foundation in wood shop safety, the proper use of hand and stationary power tools, project design, wood selection and much, much more.  This course is designed to either prepare you to execute your own projects at home or to provide you with the foundation you need to start doing more complicated and ambitious work here with at PSW.

You'll learn to operate a jointer, planer, table saw, miter saw, hand held router and a table-mounted router.  You'll use joinery techniques that will employ pinned mortise and tenon, dados and through-dovetails; all made using various jigs/fixtures, power tools and hand tools as you create this gorgeous, solid cherry multi-purpose tote box with handle.

You'll also learn a number of tricks and tips for how to select wood as well as how to mill your wood for optimal visual appeal.

This class will provide you with the confidence and knowledge to know your way around shop tools, so you can get a jump start on your woodworking skills.  There is a mountain of material covered in this class, so come well-rested and ready to learn!

A few notes about all of our classes:
